Some Productivity Apps Worth Checking Out
I just thought I’d make a quick post to point out a couple of applications that have really been helping me with my multi-tasking lately.
First up is Fluid, a free program that essentially turns any web-based application into an executable program that can be launched from the dock in OS X. I know I get tired of having multiple instances of Safari open and constantly switching back and forth between various usernames, passwords, etc. Fluid will essentially allow you to bypass that constant switching, allowing you to get back to using your web client for what the internet gods intended you to use it for: browsing.
There are directions for how to really exploit Fluid’s functionality to it’s fullest extent on their homepage, with particular attention being paid to Twitter, Friendfeed, and Facebook.
While we are on the subject of Fluid, I’m gonna go ahead and recommend a new (for me anyway) Twitter client that would make an excellent choice for your first dockable webpage. Splitweet is a web-based application that allows you to quickly and easily send out messages to multiple accounts at once. The interface is very clean and has a nice aesthetic and I must admit I’m especially fond of their Grimace meets wee-ninja mascot.

It was a breeze to set up and they even have easy to use directions for how to best utilize Fluid to park the application on your desktop.
Sorry this post was so Mac-focused, Windows users. I’ll be making a post soon with some productivity apps that I use when I’m in XP shortly.
