AH Vault: Chris Blackwell Discussing U2’s Initial Digital Strategy
Given the recent new stories regarding the sales of U2’s last record, No Line On The Horizon, I thought it would be kind of cool to take a look at a video that discusses the release of the band’s last record How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, and the prototypical digital distribution strategy that was employed along with it. This campaign has stuck in my memory in particular, as my first iPod was this U2 branded version (red and black). Anyway, sit back and enjoy Chris Blackwell discussing this blast from our digital downloading past. One comment I found particularly interesting:
“No one can afford to fill an iPod with legally downloaded music.”
Portentous, no?
